Hymn Accompaniment on the Organ ...
You love music and singing, and you probably enjoy singing your favorite hymns in church. Unfortunately, many churches are having difficulty either finding an organist and/or maintaining or replacing their pipe organ .... resorting to a keyboard for accompaniment. And while live musicians are always the first choice, sometimes they just aren't available leaving you with no musical accompaniment to sing Our Hymns.
We hope to help make the problem of no organ or organist into No Organist, No Problem.
In an attempt to replace this “missing” organ music, we are assembling a collection of high quality recordings of organ hymn accompaniments, digitally recorded on a church organ (with at least 4-5 seconds of reverberation). These are NOT machine generated recordings ... they are played by an experienced church organist from start to finish on a church organ with church acoustics. Each hymn will have an introduction (an example is given for each hymnal) and successive verses based on those found in the selected hymnal. They are available on hymn accompaniment CDs or via mp3 music file downloads.
These are played in a “straight” or as-written manner and do not have florid embellishments or between verse bridges. The verses have phrasing and registration (stop or sound selections) suited to text of each verse and an upbeat or otherwise appropriate tempo. A prayerful hymn tempo is not necessarily slow and plodding! And, most importantly, they are as you'd expect from an organist playing a church organ .... We truly hope these accompaniments will help to enable a meaningful and worshipful experience!
